Happy National Neighbor Day 2023 History, Messages, Wishes, Quotes and Status

Amicable co-existence with neighbors is essential for social peace and security. National Neighbor Day is observed every year on September 28 to build good relations with neighbors and to become a good neighbor yourself. Life becomes miserable if you quarrel with your neighbor. The characteristic of an ideal society is that its people sympathize with each other, seek each other’s welfare, help each other in times of danger and share happiness and sorrow. A lot of time to live together.

If a mistake has been made with a neighbor, it is necessary to look at forgiveness and maintain goodwill with him. If you think of yourself as big and your neighbor is small, and if you consider your interests bigger than the interests of the neighbor, it is not possible to maintain goodwill with the neighbor. For this, one should abandon arrogance and pride and develop good relations with the neighbor.

The first person in our personal life with whom the relationship goes from cold to bad is the neighbor. In happiness and sorrow, in danger, the one who can be closest is the nearest neighbor. It is our responsibility to keep the neighbor in a state of sincere friendship. The question of who what for me did is not big here but worthless. What matters more is how much I could sincerely do for my neighbor.

History of National Neighbor Day

National Neighborhood Day was first observed in the early 1970s. The day was first observed by Becky Mattason of Montana’s Lakeside. This woman made this day for a purpose. The purpose of this woman was to recognize the day by making connections with powerful leaders. The first National Neighbor Day was officially established in 1978. And established by President Jimmy Carter who signed Proclamation 4601.

He also mentioned that people should celebrate this day with joyous programs and observe the day with proper activities. He mentioned “As our Nation struggles to build friendship among the peoples of this world, we are mindful that the noblest human concern is a concern for others. Understanding, love, and respect build cohesive families and communities.

The same bonds cement our Nation and the nations of the world. For most of us, this sense of community is nurtured and expressed in our neighborhoods where we allow each other to share and feel part of a larger family. I call upon the people of the United States and interested groups and organizations to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

But later the date of this day was changed. The date of the day was changed in 2004 but the day is being observed to raise public awareness. By being good neighbors and doing the right duty to our neighbors we can build a beautiful society and by building strong communities we can build a beautiful strong state.

Why should we observe National Neighbor Day?

Humans are social creatures. Humans cannot live alone. It is the natural characteristic of humans to socialize and live in harmony with their neighbors. Neighborhoods or Mohallas are formed by placing houses next to houses, houses next to houses, and another family next to a family. Thus those who live side by side are neighbors of each other.

Those who come forward in the joys and sorrows of human life are our closest neighbors. That is why we have many responsibilities toward our neighbors. Neighborly relations are essentially based on cooperation. In life’s adversities, the first neighbor hears the news and comes forward to help. In this way, a kind of sweet relationship is created between the neighbors with mutual help and cooperation. Therefore, to survive in the battle of life, we need cooperation from our neighbors as well as it is necessary to move forward in the face of danger.

You should also try to make yourself a good neighbor. To make life worthwhile, we have to think about every person in society. You have to keep in touch with your neighbors, you have to inquire about the dangers of your neighbors.

Humans are not self-sufficient in all aspects. So, for living one has to build relations with neighbors and building good relations with neighbors is very necessary. National Neighbor Day is observed every year to inform people to make themselves good neighbors and to come forward to protect their responsibilities and duties towards their neighbors.

How to celebrate National Neighbor Day?

Every man has many responsibilities and duties towards his neighbor. There is no point in being preoccupied with oneself in the world, it loses one’s humanity. Maintain contact with neighbors.  The job of the rich is to alleviate the poverty of their poor neighbors. To make their life comfortable.

In this way, we all can maintain contact with neighbors from our respective positions and solve their various problems and strengthen mutual relations. Neighbors are our daily companions. Every day we meet them in one way or another. So, one should sympathize with neighbors and treat them well. Good relations should always be maintained with them. National Neighbor Day is celebrated every year based on these objectives. Let’s find out how you can celebrate National Neighbor Day.

At a time when many people are alone, meeting other residents of your building can be an opportunity to make new friends to promote a “better life together.” Gathering for drinks in the building’s courtyard or garden can help create a friendly atmosphere. To participate, consider letting the people around you know the date and location of your get-together a few days in advance.

Small posters and leaflets can be obtained from your local town hall or the Neighbors Day website. To ensure that your drinks reception or cold buffet turns out perfectly on the day, you can divide the tasks among your friends. Someone may be responsible for communication (distributing leaflets etc.), while others buy cutlery, plastic cups, and paper napkins.  Finally, put someone in charge of organizing food and drinks (fruit juice, crisps, quiches, snacks, etc.). Once all the guests have left, be sure to set an example by picking up the waste.

National Neighbor Day Quotes

There are even people in our society who don’t have time to think about their neighbors.  And some people are indifferent to their neighbors even when they have time. They are always trying to build their mountain of wealth. People in this class try to cheat their neighbors if they can. Although they do not occupy the upper ranks of society and receive showy respect no real respect from their neighbors.

Therefore, it is highly recommended to be sympathetic toward the neighbors. Performing proper duties towards the neighbors creates a good relationship with them and it becomes very helpful for living. • “God who created us has granted us the faculty of speech that we might disclose the counsels of our hearts to one another and that, since we possess our human nature in common, each of us might share his thoughts with his neighbor, bringing them forth from the secret recesses of the heart as from a treasury.”-Saint Basil

  • “I understand what justice is, and I understand what freedom is, and all of my friends do. It’s always been that way. I love the freedom of speech. I love the freedom of religion. • “If you wish to befriend someone, look for a person who loves first God and then themselves. If they love God, they will be able to love their neighbor, too.”  ― Peter Deunov.
