World Fisheries Day 2023, history, message, wish, status, quotes

World Fisheries Day is observed on 21st November every year.  World Fisheries Day is celebrated to draw attention to fisheries-related issues such as overfishing, inappropriate fishing techniques, habitat destruction, inadequate fishing practices, and other threats to freshwater and marine resources.

According to scientists, people who eat more fish have better memory and understanding.  The reason for that is that fish, especially marine fish, contain a type of omega-three fatty acid called DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), which is sufficient in fish oil but not found in other non-vegetarian foods.

Fish oil contains a type of unsaturated fatty acid called omega-3 M, which prevents blood clots from forming.  As a result, the possibility of blood vessel blockage is reduced.  Marine fish oil in particular lowers blood cholesterol, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease.  In addition, fish cholesterol is not harmful to the human body.

History of World Fisheries Day

Why do people celebrate World Fisheries Day

Fish supplies more than 25% of the world’s protein.  Functional foods are foods that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrients.  Fish is actually functional food.  Fish is a source of many important nutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins, peptides and lipids, and essential fatty acids. The human body requires a lot of calcium daily.

Calcium needs are especially high for growing children, pregnant mothers, and postpartum mothers.  Calcium is very important in the formation of bones and teeth.  So every day we should eat small fish rich in calcium.

Fish meal with protein, iron, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin C, vitamin B-3, and vitamin D is very beneficial for growing children.

20 percent of fish are non-vegetarian.  Fish is rich in vitamins and minerals and also contains fat, mineral oil, iron, calcium, and phosphorus.  Small fish are also rich in vitamin A.  Lack of vitamin A causes night blindness.  A few small fish are enough to meet a person’s daily vitamin needs.

Other important nutrients in fish are calcium, phosphorus, and iron.  Calcium forms the components of human bones and teeth and helps with vitamin absorption and blood clotting.  Lack of calcium causes rickets in children and arthritis in adults.  Phosphorus takes an active part in bone, muscle, and blood formation.  Iron is the main component in the formation of hemoglobin in the red blood cells of the human body. That’s why people celebrate this day.
