History of Bangladesh Independence Day

Once the whole of India was ruled by the British and the English.  In 1947, British rule in the subcontinent ended and two independent states, India and Pakistan, were born.  The state of Pakistan has two parts.  East Pakistan on one side, West Pakistan on the other.  Soon after independence, the corrupt ruling class of Pakistan started conspiring to rule and exploit East Bangla in various ways.  They started deceiving East Bengal in all areas of politics, jobs, business, wealth, distribution, and distribution.

It was in this context that the language movement took place in 1952.  Salam, Rafiq, Jabbar Barkat, and many others were martyred for the demand for Bengali as the national language.  After that, the Bengali independence movement started.  On the night of March 25, 1971, the barbaric Pakistani army attacked the people of this country.  They started killing people indiscriminately.  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the undisputed leader of Bengalis, was arrested on the late night of March 25.  Bangabandhu declared independence in the early hours of March 26, before being arrested by Pakistani soldiers.

The armed liberation struggle began.  After nine long months of the war, finding no other way, the invading Pak army unconditionally surrendered to the Mukti Bahini and the Allies on December 16, 1971.  On 16th December 1971 at 5:10 PM, at Ramna Racecourse Maidan in Dhaka, Lt. Gen. Jagjit Singh Orera on behalf of the Joint Command, and Lt. Gen. Niazi on behalf of Pakistan signed the instrument of surrender of Pakistan at present Sehrawardy Udyan.
