California is a kingdom in the United States.  In 1850, California was willing as the 31st kingdom of the United States.  California is the greatest kingdom in the United States by population.  It is the third-largest kingdom in the United States. The capital of California is Sacramento.  Los Angeles (Los Angeles) and San Francisco (San Francisco) are the two largest cities in this state.

History of National California day.

Settled in successive waves of arrivals for at least the last 13,000 years, California was one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse regions of pre-Columbian North America. Various estimates range from a local population of 100,000 to 300,000. California’s indigenous peoples included more than 70 distinct ethnic groups, ranging from large settled populations living on the coast to inland groups.

California groups were also diverse in their political organization, with chains, tribes, villages, and large chiefdoms such as the Chumash, Pomo, and Salinan on the resource-rich coast.  Trade, intermarriage, and military alliances created many social and economic relationships between different groups. In 1846, a group of American settlers in and around Sonoma revolted against Mexican rule during the Bear Flag Rebellion.

Rebels later raised the bear flag (consisting of a bear, a star, a red stripe, and the words “Republic of California”) in Sonoma.  The only president of the republic was William B.  Ide, who played an important role during the Bear Flag Rebellion.  This rebellion of American settlers served as a prelude to the subsequent American military invasion of California and was closely coordinated with nearby American military commanders.

The California Republic was short-lived; the same year the Mexican-American War (1846–48) began. When United States Navy Commodore John D.  After Sloat sailed to Monterey Bay and began the military occupation of California by the United States, Northern California surrendered to United States forces in less than a month. After a series of defensive battles in Southern California, American control of California was secured on January 13, 1847.  The Treaty of Cahuenga was signed by the Californians.

Why National California Day Is Celebrated.

The Spanish named the peninsula of Baja California and Alta California “Las Californias”, the area that became the present-day state of California.

The name probably derives from the mythical island of California in the fictional story of Queen Calafia, as recorded in The Adventures of Esplandian by García Rodríguez de Montalvo in 1510. The work was the fifth in a popular Spanish chivalric romance series that began with Amadis de Goula.

Queen Calafia’s kingdom is said to be a remote land rich in gold and pearls, inhabited by beautiful fair women who wear golden armor and live like Amazons, as well as griffins and other strange creatures. In the fictional paradise, the ruling queen Calafia fought the Muslims, and her name may have been chosen to echo the title of Caliph, a Muslim leader.  It is possible that the name California meant that the island had a caliphate.

Know ye that to the right of the Indies there is an island called California, very near that part of the Terrestrial Paradise, where black women dwelt without a single man among them, and they lived like the Amazons.  They were of strong-spirited hearts and strong bodies with great virtue.  The island itself is one of the wildest in the world due to its rugged and craggy rocks.

Rodriguez’s view of California as an island persisted despite the exploration of Californian soil in the sixteenth century.  Such illustrations appear on many European maps in the eighteenth century. After the Portola Expedition of 1769–70, Spanish missionaries led by Junípero Serra began establishing 21 California missions on or near the coast of Alta (Upper) California, beginning in San Diego.

At the same time, the Spanish military built several forts (presidios) and three small towns (pueblos).  The San Francisco Mission grew in the city of San Francisco, and two pueblos expanded to the cities of Los Angeles and San Jose.
