The history of national Texas day.
Texas began as an independent state called the Republic of Texas.
Prior to 1835, Texas was under Mexican rule. In Mexico, at that time there was great tension between the Federalists and the Centralists. As a result of this tension, the Texans engaged in armed conflict with Mexico in late 1835 at the Battle of Gonzales. Over the next two months, Mexico lost all battles in Texas. Texas then elects delegates, who form the interim government. However, this government soon lost power due to internal conflicts. As a result, Texas remained virtually governmentless for the first two months of 1836.
In the midst of this political turmoil, the then-president of Mexico, Antonio López de Santa Ana, marched his own army to quell the Texas rebellion. Initially, the Mexican campaign was successful. General Jose de Urrea crushed Texan resistance along the coast. The Goliad Massacre by the Mexican Army occurred during this time. The Texan resistance fighters were defeated after a 13-day siege by Santa Anna’s troops at the Battle of the Alamo. News of the defeat caused widespread anxiety among the Texas settlers.
Elected Texan delegates rushed through the convention to declare Texas independence. Texas officially declared independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836. Like many other settlers, the newly formed government fled to escape the advancing Mexican army. After retreating for several weeks, Texan forces led by Sam Houston were able to attack and defeat Santa Ana’s army at the Battle of San Janquito. Mexican President Santa Anna was arrested and forced to sign the Pact of Valles. As a result, the war officially ended.

How We National Texas day.
The Republic of Texas was a transitional state between the United States of America and Mexico, which existed from 1836 to 1845. Originating as a republic that seceded from Mexico as a result of the Texas Rebellion, the country’s borders extended not only to the present-day US state of Texas, but also to parts of present-day New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming.
The eastern border with the United States was determined by the Adams-Onis Treaty, a treaty concluded in 1819 between the United States and Spain. Its southern and western borders with Mexico were disputed throughout the Republic’s lifetime, with Texas claiming the Rio Grande and Mexico the Nueces River. This dispute later led to the US-Mexican War between the United States and Mexico following the annexation of Texas.
