HISTORY OF WORLD MEDITATION DAY

Since 2021, the day is officially celebrated in different countries of the world under the initiative of Quantum Foundation.  The observance of the day is symbolic.  When a society or population needs to be made aware of an issue, the context is to talk about the importance and significance;  Then the government organization of that country or the United Nations takes such an initiative by specifying a day.  That is how World Meditation Day was born.

 Five years ago, a British meditation instructor named Will Williams first took the initiative to celebrate this day. Will Williams was an insomniac. After healing through meditation, he became more enthusiastic about it. He came to India and approached two gurus there to gain deep knowledge. He also studied meditation in the Chinese, Egyptian, and Amazon regions.  At one point ‘Bija’ introduced a method of meditation called meditation. The main tone of which is derived from Eastern meditation.

An expert panel of physicians at the US National Institutes of Health recently announced that deep relaxation can provide relief from chronic pain as quickly as drugs and surgery. A nationwide survey conducted in the June 1997 issue of the US medical journal Prevention found that 30 percent of Americans use painkillers, 35 percent ignore pain, and 27 percent use meditation to reduce pain.  Seventy-five percent of Americans believe that pain relief is possible without medication.  23 percent of US citizens report that their doctors have prescribed pain relief through relaxation rather than medication.
